A course made for these times

The Self-Empowered Educator course is a resource designed to help educators like you gain clarity on your thoughts and emotions, build resilience, and live a more self-empowered life.

To be self-empowered, we need to analyze our thoughts and emotions critically without immediately acting upon them. This requires self-awareness and an understanding provided by this 8-week course.

With insights from the #1 best-seller…

Throughout our day as educators, we experience difficult thoughts and emotions. They tend to hook us in several ways. As an example, we may tend to brood over them ad nauseum, or bottle them up inside. Either way, our attempts to manage our challenging thoughts and emotions leave us:

  • more tired at the end of the day

  • distracted and displaced from what is actually happening around us

  • less able to handle the inevitable surprises of our day

  • facing a regular battle with our thoughts, ourselves, and others.

With insights from Harvard psychologist Dr. Susan David’s book, Emotional Agility, we will discover strategies to step off of the emotional roller coaster of life. These skills can help us learn to choose:

  • a day of productivity over disorganization

  • closer connections over isolation

  • courage over hesitancy

  • resilience over defeat.

In this course with Coach Wes, you will learn skills and strategies to:

  • not get “hooked” by them and get caught in a pattern of unworkable behavior

  • act according to what matters most to you with more consistency

  • gain greater confidence to handle life’s uncertainties.

The Power of Coaching in Community

Group Coaching is an experience unlike any other. You are not just learning new ideas, you’re applying them each and every week.

Furthermore, you’re doing this together with other educators, learning and gaining inspiration from them as we support each other through the process of change.

What is included:

  • 8 group coaching sessions @ 1 hour each

  • 1 individual coaching session @45 minutes

  • 1 Zoom/phone meeting with Coach Wes prior to course start to answer any questions and share your course aspirations

  • Supplemental materials for support each week

  • Additional exercises to help you apply these ideas in your life

  • Exclusive access to your support group during the week

Additional Resources to Support Your Learning and Growth

We’ll progress through Emotional Agility covering a chapter or two each week. By our coaching session, you will be expected to have a working understanding of the concepts from this book, by reading it yourself, and/or relying on the supplemental resources provided by Coach Wes. (You are strongly encouraged to read Emotional Agility for the fullest understanding.)

This will leave us with more time each week during our coaching sessions to reflect on how these ideas relate to our lives and ways in which we can strengthen our own emotional agility.
